Are you Highly Sensitive?
Being Highly Sensitive can be challenging. It is defined as having “an increased sensitivity of the central nervous system and a deeper cognitive processing of physical, social and emotional stimuli”. You may be sensitive to light, sounds, textures, spaces but you may also have other traits such as emotional sensitivity (the ability to sense the intentions thoughts and feelings that lie beneath people’s facades) or an ability to sense other people’s energy. It has been suggested that 30% or more of the population are Highly Sensitive.
The great news is that there is more and more research being done in this area and some businesses are becoming more aware of the need to find ways to support HSP’s in the workplace.
