Our health is very important and we will spend whatever money and time is necessary to look after our bodies. But one part of our body/health situation we tend to neglect is our mind and mental health.
Our physical health is seriously affected by our mental health as many doctors now know. If we are constantly striving for more, bigger, better – we are creating significant stress in our minds and bodies that can directly cause illness and dis-ease. Striving for more is often the result of a negative view of our life as it is and our culture is set up to have us be discontent with everything and anything. It is easy to get caught up in it. But it can contribute to anxiety, depression and lethargy.
Another contributor to our discontent is constantly comparing ourselves to others and trying to follow their way of doing life. If we are more in touch with ourselves, we will find the way that brings us fulfillment, contentment and happiness.
And being afraid of change and trying to control everything in our lives is a protection strategy that we believe will keep us safe but it is actually very stressful.
The end result of any of the above is usually the opposite of what we hope for.
